Christmas toys for girls and boys

Dillan found a christmas toy that he likes a lot. It is daddy's toy. But Dillan thinks it should be his. You can see his adventures from this week at his blog.

Remember this Christmas?

Jeremy soaked up the attention,

I was still half asleep,

And Allison did not get what she wanted.

Some things never change.
Love you all, Merry Christmas.

Sweet as pie

A couple weeks ago Liz, Jennifer and I decided to make a homemade apple pie. It turned out both hideous and delicious. To cover up the ugly crust we added a fattening crumb topping. Num-num.

But what is really sweet as pie... ? Having mom and dad drive an hour and half just to see you lead a school choir in the last two numbers of their winter concert. Thanks mom and dad.

My Hawaii Vacation

Some wild dolphins we saw off the Island of Lanai. There was a whole "pod" of them, including some baby dolphins who were jumping out of the water and playing for us. It was amazing.

Here are a couple pictures from my trip to Hawaii in October. We had an awesome time and saw a lot of marine life. I've been getting requests for pictures, so I thought I'd post them.

Something's Missing?

We had our Stake Choir concert last night which I've been working on for some time. It was a Sing Along and I played for our ward choir, all the sing along numbers and directed the combined choir in the end. I felt really blessed because I didn't get nervous like I usually do and make alot of mistakes, especially on our ward number which was a challenge to play. We had about 110 voices in our combined choir. It was an awesome experience to direct them in Peace, Peace as the curtains opened to a living nativity on stage and the audience joined in singing Silent Night. I had made a notebook with all the music copied and in order so I'd be prepared. However when I was playing Hark the Herald Angel's sing for the audience I ran out of music before the song ended! Apparently I'd neglected to copy the second page from the hymn book which includes the last line. We had a little acapella ending for a few verses!

Recognize this guy? I thought I'd join in with a few pictures. This is from the "Larry visits Portland" files. We're hoping to have him back again for more good times!

Spencer was incensed when he saw that his Halloween costume pic was not included so here is the little nipper and his scary, buff brother. Notice Spencer's Clark Kent hair color. . .

hi

this is porter, what's up?

O.k. Porter got to the computer whilst I was bringing Mason in from the school bus. He's now doing dog duty outside.

I just thought I'd send a test blog to see how this whole deal-io works. I really have no heartwrenching issues to blog about.

And, what the heck I think I'll try to post a pic, too.
How do you turn these pics? help.

Anger Management

Jeremy - I am getting totally frusterated because I have been trying to post a picture for the last couple of days and it says it contains POSTDATA. What the heck does that mean?

I've been enjoying everyone else's posts though.
Just wanted to share the anger.

Hello from Kansas!

I figured I was due for some updates, and now that I'm all hooked up on this blog, I'm going to use it for updates! Here is a pic of Abby all bundled up for a walk. Thanks to Martha for the Wonderful carseat and stroller, walks are so easy! She LOVES them, and really enjoys getting out of the house and looking around. The other picture I thought was cute. We found that shirt at Old Navy. Abby has also started smiling. Man is it rewarding. You sure have to work hard for it, but it is way worth it. I got a little smile from her, and thats the pic on the top. Matt finally moved his work to Topeka, so it's nice to have him close. Well Abby is calling, got to run. We send our love.

Update

The Monkey Times has been updated with Dillan's latest adventures. Check it out for yourself!

Plague of the Parachute

Friday I taught P.E. to 5 first grade classes. We were doing parachute "fitness" which involves laying in push-up position while shaking the parachute with one hand, skipping around in a huge circle while holding on to the parachute (which totally reminded me of pony rides at Dad's old Loral parties - except in this case, the kids were like the ponies forced to circle round even when they didn't want to, or the chute was running away with them), and other such "fun" activities. At the end of the fitness we played shark attack.

In shark attack, everyone sits with their legs under the parachute and shakes it like the ocean while two student sharks go underneath and slither around trying to pull people into the water by their legs. There are also lifeguards who walk around looking for screaming, and let me emphasize, screaming people to save. (It's basically human tug of war.)

Everyone loves this game but it is extremely loud. When almost everyone is under the chute, I blow the whistle and everyone come out. During the 5th class, I blew my whistle and everyone started to emerge. Then I heard some whimpers and looked across the chute to see a small blonde boy jittering around in his underwear! Those were really some wild sharks!

I ran over as quick as I could and told everyone to hold the parachute on the floor while I made him go back under and put his pants on. He seemed to recover fine emotionally, but as they were lining up for drinks I noticed his pants were on backwards.

Moral of the story: Although zipper and button jeans may be more difficult for children to use in the bathroom, they may just be the thing that saves them from an embarrassing shark attack.

Pop is now on!

Just to let you know that today Jeremy invited me to join so here I am! Larry and I got new cell phones yesterday so I have spent a good chunk of the day setting up Larry's address book. I was able to upgrade on-line for $0.00 but they charged me about $18 for doing it. We now have Razr3 phones with a camera and all. We received about 2 inches of snow this morning. Emily says they have about 6 inches in Murray. Have a great day tomorrow and we are all praying for Tracie.

PRACTICALLY ENGAGED

COOL NEWS FROM LARRY: LAST NIGHT I WENT ON A DATE. I ASKED 1 WOMAN AND IT TURNS OUT THAT SHE BROUGHT 3 FRIENDS MAKING IT A QUADRUPLE DATE WITH ME AS THE ONLY GUY. WE WENT TO THE WEBER STATE INSTITUTE FOR A DINNER AND FIRESIDE. IT TURNS OUT THAT I'M SORT OF ENGAGED NOW. WHEN SHAY WAS INTRODUCING ME TO HER FRIENDS I TOLD THEM, "YOUR PRACTICALLY MY FRIENDS IN LAW". SHAY SAID WE'RE NOT ENGAGED YET ARE WE. I SAID, "WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE?" TO WHICH SHE SAID YES. SURE SHE DOESN'T HAVE A RING YET BUT WE'RE PRETTY MUCH ENGAGED. I HOPE ALL ARE WELL.
